July 26,2025: India paid tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for our nation during Kargil war in 1999 and celebrated the 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 26th, 2025. The Indian Army hoisted a 75-feet high Tricolour at Lamochan View Point in Drass, which overlooks the battle zone where India’s soldiers took back significant peaks from the Pakistani intruders. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh led the tributes to the soldiers, laying a wreath at the National War Memorial, in New Delhi. In the message, he highlighted that the soldiers demonstrated unrivaled courage and selfless service and they will always remain the source of inspiration for the nation. 

The Indian Air Force also paid tribute to the soldiers with a reminder of the bravery exhibited during the two operations “Operation Vijay” and “Operation Safed Sagar” and how these warriors demonstrated the best of India’s brave traditions in an expedition filled with courage to fight for their country under extreme weather and altitude. 

The Ministry of Defence issued a message that was high impactful:
“ना झुके, ना डरे, ना रुके – कार्गील के शुरवीरों ने शौर्य, बलिदान और राष्ट्र भक्ती की अमित कहानी लिखी”

In honour of armed officers who displayed courage, sacrifice and dedication in safeguarding national integrity, Kargil Vijay Diwas is a reminder of the audacious actions of the Indian Armed Forces.
