The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and the Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) held the 8th High Level meeting in New Delhi on August 11, 2025. The meeting is a significant leap for the two countries’ ongoing maritime bilateral relationship. The SLCG delegation was made up of Rear Admiral Y.R. Serasinghe, Director General and they engaged with ICG Director General Paramesh Sivamani to discuss and enhance their collaboration on a number of mutually agreed strategic themes. 

As part of their dialogue, there will also be Joint Pollution Response Coordination, Maritime Search and Rescue related to Law Enforcement. They will continue to explore enhanced capacity building and technical assistance as agreed under the 2018 Memorandum of Understanding. 

India and Sri Lanka have both reaffirmed  their commitment to continue to engage and tackle their common maritime issues and build on their operational collaboration and cooperation which will facilitate the aim of increasing regional maritime security and sustainability. The SLCG delegation is currently conducting an extended operational visit to India from August 10-14 and has participated in additional professional engagements related to assist the bilateral maritime relationship.
