Tibet ranked first in both the number and area of National parks in China:
Having total park area of about 400,000 square kilometers, accounting for about 36% of the total area of national parks and candidate areas in the country, The reporter learned from the Third Session of the 12th People’s Congress of the Autonomous Region that Tibet Autunomous region would include six typical areas with the most important ecosystems, the unique natural landscapes, the most quintessential natural heritage, and the richest biodiversity, including Sanjiangyuan (Tangbei area), Qiangtang, Mount Everest, Gang Rinpoche, Gaoligong Mountain (Tibet section), and Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon, into the “National Park Spatial Layout Plan”.
Tibet’s foreign trade imports and exports in 2024 reached 12.67 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 15.4%, a record high.
The Central Government allocated “14.8 billion yuan of funds to implement 28 livelihood projects.

Extend the road of developing border areas and enriching people at Tibet’s Latest Session:
Strengthening and consolidating borders, developing border areas, and enriching the people were hot topics during the Third Session of the 12th People’s Congress of the Autonomous Region, which was held on Jan 19th, 2025.

According to the Tibet Autonomous Region Statistics Bureau, the regional GDP was 276.494 billion yuan in 2024.
Yan Jinhai was elected as the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress of the Tibet Autonomous Region. Karma Tseden was elected as the Chairman of the People’s Government of the Tibet Autonomous Region.

On the eve of the Spring Festival, at the northern foot of the Himalayas at an altitude of more than 5,000 meters, soldiers from the Numu Ri Border Defense Company of a border defense regiment of the Tibet Military Region, a “plateau border defense model battalion”, order to patrol and observe at an altitude of nearly 6,000 meters.
