The U.S. President Donald Trump’s approval rating has fallen to its lowest point since returning to office, with growing discontent even among his once-dominant white voter base. According to a new Pew Research Center survey, only 47% of white Americans now approve of Trump’s performance, while 52% disapprove, marking a sharp shift within a demographic that powered his earlier victories.

Nationally, Trump’s approval stands between 37% and 40%, the lowest since his second term began. Polls by Gallup and Reuters/Ipsos highlight steep declines among independent voters and white men without college degrees, traditionally his strongest supporters. Analysts attribute the fall to public frustration over rising prices, aggressive tariff policies, and increasing border tensions.

While Trump continues to command loyalty within his core Republican base, his slipping numbers among swing voters and suburban whites have raised alarms ahead of the 2026 midterms. Economists warn that prolonged inflation, coupled with controversial executive actions on immigration and trade, could deepen public dissatisfaction.

Political observers note that Trump’s approval erosion within his key bloc signals a possible realignment in U.S. electoral dynamics. For the first time, polls suggest that his support among white voters has entered negative territory a warning sign for his administration and campaign strategists alike.
